SAT: The SAT is owned and published yearly by the College Board, a private, not for profit organization in the United States. This test is intended to determine a student’s readiness for colleges and determines what level they are at in certain subjects. It is designed to test high school knowledge as well as give basics for first year college students.
The current SAT testing (introduced in early 2016) allots for 3 hours of testing with an additional 50 minutes for the essay portion. The current testing price is $52.50 (late fees apply for students taking the test after certain dates). Scoring ranges from a possible 400 to 1600 points, equaling a combination of the testing and essay sections. There are two main categories for this test: Mathematics and Critical Reading with Writing. As of 2016, the essay section is optional for most colleges; however, it is highly recommended by most colleges that this section be completed. This is because at least nine credit hours of classes require critical writing in the form of essays.

There are many multiple choice questions with several written answers. These sections test your knowledge on a Senior Year High School level.
